Our Privacy Policy

Policy statement

Ipswich Dog Obedience Club Inc. (‘IDOC’) values and respects the privacy of the people we deal with.  IDOC is committed to protecting your privacy and complying with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and other applicable privacy laws and regulations.  

What is personal information?

 “Personal information” means any information or opinion, whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an identified individual or an individual who is reasonably identifiable.  In general terms, this includes information or an opinion that personally identifies you either directly (e.g. your name) or indirectly.  

What personal information do we collect?

The personal information we collect about you depends on the nature of your dealing with IDOC, e.g. your membership of the club, your participation in training and events offered by IDOC, or what you choose to share with us. 


The personal information we collect about you may include: 


  1. name; 
  2. mailing or street address; 
  3. email address; 
  4. phone number; 
  5. Dogs Queensland membership number; 
  6. Dog registration numbers. 


You do not have to provide us with your personal information.  However, if you choose not to provide us with your personal information, we may not be able to provide you with our services or otherwise interact with you. 

How do we collect your personal information?

 We collect your personal information directly from you when you: 


  1. interact with us over the phone; 
  2. interact with us in person; 
  3. interact with us online e.g. on our Facebook pages; 
  4. participate in any surveys or questionnaires; 
  5. enter or attend an IDOC event; 
  6. become a member of IDOC; 
  7. volunteer in a club position. 

Collecting personal information from third parties

IDOC may also collect your personal information from third parties or through publicly available sources, for example, from Dogs Queensland, Show Manager or other online entry providers.  We collect your personal information from these third parties so that you can enter your dogs in IDOC trials.  

Disclosure of personal information to third parties

We may disclose your personal information to third parties in accordance with this Policy in circumstances where you would reasonably expect us to disclose your information.  For example, we may disclose your personal information to the following third parties: 


  1. online entry providers, e.g. Show Manager; K9 Entries 
  2. Dogs Queensland; 
  3. our award/trophy suppliers. 

How we protect your personal information

IDOC will take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information that we hold about you is kept confidential and secure, including by: 


  1. taking measures to restrict access to personnel who need that personal information to effectively provide services to you; 
  2. ensuring that email communications are sent privately via the BCC field.
